I'm taking a nutrition class and I learn so much that a lot of other people might not know. I thought I'd share some of it. Post here if you learn anything useful about health and nutrition.
First and foremost, weight loss isn't about eating less, it's about eating right.
Depriving yourself of food slows down your metabolism and makes it harder for you to maintain your 'diet'. Eating an apple when you're hungry rather than eating junk food is a way you can lose weight and not be hungry.
The candy bar will go straight to your butt while the sugars in the apple are harder for your body to break down. This way your body has to work harder at it and it takes a longer time to raise the sugar in your system. This way you don't get a sugar high or low.

Also another nutrition thing is that a lot of people think that if they just eat a lot of protein that they will bulk up. Protein only repairs damage to muscles and etc. When you exercise you tear your muscles and the protein helps to repair it and make it bigger/stronger. Just eating protein without doing exercise only adds fat because if the protein is not in use it converts to that.

Well this thread is just to help out. You got to remember though that body weight and physical appearance is not a good indicator of health and fitness. Some people are very healthy but have a predetermined genetic tendency to be fat looking. Some people who appear to have a fat belly and be out of shape can run ten miles no problem.
On the other hand you have people who were born to appear healthy. They may be muscular but could have high blood pressure and be very unhealthy.
You probably have what's called a ectomorph body type. It's basically people who are thin no matter what they eat.

You should eat a lot of fruits and veggies too. They can be sweeter than candy and can reduce your risk for cancer and heart disease. Did you know that frozen peas taste sweet? I didn't. The 3 main cancers are Breast/Prostate, lung, and then colon-rectal cancer. It's scary when you think that Breast/Prostate and colon-rectal cancer occur because of people's diet a lot of the time.

;D Yeah I guess because it's the end of the digestive system, if you're not eating right that's gonna be the most affected.

You should try eating veggies like frozen peas. I hear when peas are cold that they are sweet. 80% of Americans don't get their recommended veggies while 10% don't get any at all. Sadly I'm still mostly part of that 10%.
