(These rules were copied word 4 word from yu-gi-oh-online.co.uk)
1. Godmoding – Not allowed. Godmoding is taking control of another person’s character and controlling them yourself, like God. For example : “PC 1 punches PC 2 and makes them fly into a wall and they say ‘ow’.” That just isn’t nice, is it? There are also lesser forms of godmoding: “PC 1 grabs PC 2's arm.” Okay, that’s not exactly godmoding, but it’s still kinda controlling. Try to say something more like “PC 1 reaches out to grab PC 2's arm.” giving them the opportunity to pull away or what have you.
A. The exception to this rule is if someone is going to be away. In which case the deserter should post in the pinned topic in the OOC board, either stating who will be godmoding their character while they’re away or requesting someone to do it.
2. Format – Ever read a book? Write it like that, in third person, past tense, with what your character is saying in quotation marks. Please don’t use asterisks because that’s just silly. However, you may feel free to use boldface, caps, and italics to emphasize speech. I.e.: “PC 1 ran through the door to the tavern, nearly tripping on the threshold, and shouted, ‘Jesus muffin!’ before collapsing on the floor.” Don’t be afraid to use big words. There’s always dictionary.com for these of us who are vocabulary challenged.
2.5. Proper Grammar - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOLLOW THIS RULE. YOU CAN NOT USE INTERNET SLANG IN AN RP. IT MAKES YOU SOUND LIKE A COMPLETE ILLIITERATE MORON. NOT TO MENTION YOU MAY BE FLAMED BY OTHER MEMBERS. IF YOU DO THIS REPEATIATLY YOU WILL BE BANNED FROM THE RP SECTION UNTIL YOU CAN IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS.
3. Cursing – Not disallowed, but not necessarily encouraged. You can curse but don’t overdo it to the point where we can’t take you seriously.
4. No one really cares how much better of an rper or character creator you are, so don’t tell us.
5. Don’t be useless. No one likes the little thing crawling around the background. Don’t you want your character to make a difference?
6. On the same note, don’t be an overbearing presence in the story because no one likes that either. Don’t let your ego grow too much. Try to find a nice middle ground.
7. If there’s one thing I hate...it’s OOC (Out Of Character) posts in the story. It’s okay if it’s just some quick question or comment, but if it turns into a discussion move it to the General board because that’s what it’s there for.
8. If you’ve just joined, don’t try to start up an rp as the first thing you do. No offense, but they often end up sucking and dying. Join a few games already established, get the feel, then when you’re ready (and you’re sure others will join) begin a game.
9. If a game has enough characters already DON’T JOIN. And don’t join unless there is a decent opportunity for you to jump in and have the story flow smoothly. Falling out of the sky in the middle of a battle, for example, is just flat out stupid. There are other ways, so be creative.
10. Regarding Puppets–They’re welcome, but don’t let them take control of your actual character. Keep in mind that they are secondary players and though they can be important they aren’t on top of the list. I recommend 3 as an absolute maximum.
11. Not everyone is going to do what you want them to do so deal with it. You can’t hand out scripts and things are going to happen that you didn’t expect to. If it worked like a play it would be boring beyond reason.
